How the game works (newcomer notes)

Photos become headlines, headlines rewrite the park, timing beats spam, and restarts are normal. Inspired by Nicky Case’s We Become What We Behold.

The photo → TV → reaction loop

Point the viewfinder, click when the subject is clear, then watch the central park television. The caption confirms what story you just published. That story changes the next minute of park behavior, which changes what is worth photographing next.

Origins (lightly sourced)

Mechanical Boy LLC’s Roblox experience is based on We Become What We Behold, a short free game by Nicky Case about news cycles (open-license original). The Roblox version keeps the “media creates the crowd” idea, then adds a 12-ending collection menu, multiplayer servers (12 players), and park set pieces like the Suit payoff and Hat Man timing test.

Practical newcomer habits

Learn Viral once so you understand escalation. Bank quick endings (Cricket, TV, Breaking News, Reverse, Scared, Say Cheese) on focused restarts. Save Follow the Money for last. When a run’s mood is already wrong for your goal, open the menu and restart instead of forcing it — that matches how our Progression and Camera guides are written.
